s. m. (M.), ) The tamarisk tree (Tamarix orientalis, Nat. Ord. Tamaricaceæ) found in the Jhang district. The wood is hard, and is used in a variety of ways; but it is of little value, emits an offensive odour when burned; it is used for charcoal. The tree grows rapidly, and is common in the saline tracts; i. q. Pharwdṇh Faras.
