KABAR

s. f, Corrupted from the Arabic word Qabar. A grave, a tomb:—kabar astáṉ, kabarastháṉ, s. f. A grave-yard, a cemetery, a burial ground:—kabar kaḍḍhṉá, khaṭṭṉá, v. a. To dig a grave:—kabráṇ de murde puṭṭṉe, v. a. lit. To dig up the buried dead, to renew old quarrels:—kabar wichch pair páuṉe, v. n. To have one foot in the grave, to be on the point of death:—kutte dí kabar te mashrú dá uchháṛ. A dog's grave and a covering of striped cloth.—Prov. used of a person of low position having valuable things at his disposal, i. e., a jewel in a pig's snout.
