s. m, Corrupted from the Arabic word Qalaṇdar. A kind of Muhammadan monk who deserts home, wife and friends, and travels about with shaven head and beard; a monkey or bear man:—sayad ráhak te kalaṇdar bhútar. A Syed the tenant and a kalaṇdar the landlord.—Prov. used when a noble man is working under a low person.
