KILLAR

Meaning in English2

s. m, shrub of some size (Parrotia Jacquemontiana, Nat. Ord. Hamamelideœ) which grows abundantly in many places on most of the rivers up to the Indus. It is generally seen in cluster and thickets. The leaf resembles that of the hazel; and in some places its leaves are said to be eaten by cattle. The wood is hard and strong, and makes good pegs, native bedsteads, rice pestles, walking sticks. The twigs are also used for binding loads and making baskets. But the chief use of the plant is for the twig-bridges.
