KUṚAM

s. m, elation by marriage; the style of address used by the fathers of a bride and bridegroom towards each other; the relationship between these parties; a child's father-in-law:—kuṛam kaṛáhí, s. f. A dish prepared to be eaten on occasion of the first meeting of the parents of a bride and bridegroom, and in which other persons are not allowed to participate; c. w. waṇḍṉá:—kuṛam kupattá chaṇggá, guáṇḍh kupattá maṇdá. Better quarrel with your relations (by marriage) than your neighbour.—Prov.
