s. m, kos. The kachchá koh is professedly 2040 yards, less than 1¼ miles; but in reality it seems in most places to be nearer a mile and a half; the pakká koh, is over two miles. The kos, however, varies very much in different places and with individuals; a larger leather vessel for drawing water from a well:—munná koh, s. m. About one mile:—lakk baddhá Aroṛiáṇ te munná koh Lahore. Aroṛás have girded up their loins and Lahore is only about a mile distance.—Prov. to express that everything is easy before exertion:—koh ná challí bábá tiháí. (She) had not gone a kos distance, when she said, oh grandmother! I am thirsty—Prov. used of pretensions in doing a hard and difficult task or in shirking a difficult task merely by pretensions.
