s. f, house, the style of house usually occupied by Europeans, built of masonry, in contradistinction to wood, thatch, &c. a granary; a treasury; a banking house, a bank; a firm, a factory; the cylinder or shaft of a well or the shaft of a bridge; a house of ill-fame for the occasional prostitution of married women; a cupboard or closet; a curb:—chhalle koṭhí, s. f. A house of ill-fame, a bawdy house:—koṭhí gálṉá, v. n. To fix the shaft of a well or a bridge; to sink a curb:—koṭhí galṉí, v. n. To be fixed (the shaft of a well or a bridge in its place):—koṭhí wál, koṭhí wálá, s. m. A wholesale merchant; a banker:—jíhdí koṭhí wichch dáṉe uhde kamle wí siáṉe. In whose granary are grains, even his fools are wise.—Prov. i. e., rich men, though they may be fools, are considered to be wise.
