s. m, Corrupted from the Arabic word Ḳhánah. A house; a receptacle, a drawer; a compartment, a partition, especially in a box; a square in chess or draughts, divisions or square in other games; a column of a tabular statement:—kháná abád hoṉá, v. n. lit. The house to be inhabited, to be married:—kháná barbádí, s. f. Destruction of a house or family especially by the death of one's wife:—kháná purí, s. f. Filling up of a column or form:—kháná kharáb hoṉá, v. n. To be ruined or destroyed (house) by the death of one's wife, (a course):—kháná kábá, s. m. The temple at Mecca to which pilgrimages are made by Muhammadans:—piṇḍ wasediáṇ de sánúṇ lakkh muláhje; belí maiṇ núṇ ímáṉ barab- bar wáṇg kháne Kábe.
