GHOṬṬÁ

s. m, The instrument with which a polish or gloss is given to paper; the instrument with which the wooden slate is rubbed by beginners of the Sanskrit, Gurmukhi and Laṇḍá characters:—ghoṭṭá cháhaṛṉá, láuṉá, v. a. To repeat a lesson with a view to learn it by heart, to read over and over again:—ghoṭṭá gháṭṭí, s. f. Smoothing, polishing; taking off the beard:—ghotṭe gar, ghoṭṭe garní, s. m. f. A polisher.
