s. m, Derived from the Sanskrit word Chaṇdaṉ. Sandal wood, (Santalum album); the sectarial mark on the forehead and other parts of the body made with this wood:—channaṉ birchh or rukhh, s. m. The sandal wood tree; the wood ground fine is used for sectarial marks by Hindus and is also used medicinally:—channaṉbúr, s. m. Sawdust of the sandal wood used with incense:—channaṇhár, s. m. A costly kind of necklace; i. q. Chaṇdaṉ.
