s. f. (M.), small flat piece of wood about a span long and of the width of a finger. Spiritual guides (murshid) sell to their disciples (muríd) chapṛís of Ak wood (calotropis procera) with the following Persian words written on them:—gark shud lashkar-i-Farún dar daryá-i-Níl. Drowned was the army of Pharoah in the river Nile. The disciples wear these chapṛís round their necks as a prophylactics against remittent fever.
