s. m, n open square in a city, the main street or central thoroughfare of a city; a plain; a square place prepared on the ground over which flour and perfumes are sprinkled at weddings and on other occasions of rejoicings. On the floor marks are made by a Brahman to obtain favourable omens from the planets (Naugrahs), and these marks are worshipped by the bride and bridegroom, or other parties concerned; a head ornament (of silver or gold) worn by women.
