s. f, Corrupted from the Arabic word Zid. Opposition, perverseness; persistence:—jid chaṛh jáṉí, chaṛhṉí, v. n. To insist on, to be obstinate:—jid hoṉí, hojáṉí, rakkhṉí, v. n. To have malice against:—jid jhaṛáuṉí, v. n. To resist obstinately and perversely:—jid karní, v. a. To persist, to perverse.
