s. m, Corrupted from the Arabic word Juwáb. Answer, reply; discharge, dismissal; refusal of an offer of marriage or of a request:—jubáb dáwá, s. m. The answer to a legal plaint:—jubáb deṉá, v. a. To answer, to reply; to be accountable for, to be responsible; to discharge, to dismiss:—jubáb hoṉá, milṉá, v. n. To be dismissed or discharged:—jubáb karná, v. a. To make answer:—jubáb námá, s. m. A writing attached amongst Shíáh Muhammadans to the winding sheet, on the breast of the deceased, being the answers to the questions to be put by the examining angels Munkar and Nakír in case the poor soul should be too flurried to answer for himself:—jubáb suál karná, v. n. To reason, to dispute.
