TARADDAD

s. f. (M.), ) a system by which the proprietor makes over a well in working order to a tenant on condition that he pays the proprietary share of the produce; the proprietor remains responsible for half the revenue, the tenant retains the other half of the produce and pays half the revenue, it being understood that so long as the tenant continues to cultivate or arrange for cultivation, he cannot be ousted from the land so made over:—taraddad kár, s. m. A tenant who holds land according to the Taraddad system:—taraddad kárí, s. f. Tenure.
