s. f, The name of a fine timber tree (Cedrela toona, Nat. Ord. Cedrelaceæ). The bark is very astringent, given in diarrhœa and dysentery. The seeds are sometimes used as a tonic in fevers, also as echolics and emmenagogue. From the flowers a fleeting yellow dye is obtained. The seeds are used to dye red. The wood is hard and durable, reddish, and is the best furniture wood in Northern India:—tuṉ dáṉá, s. m. The seed of Tuṉ.
