ਧਮਣ

DHAMAṈ

Meaning in English2

s. m, kind of wood used much for bahaṇgís on account of its strength; a kind of serpent; a kind of grass (Pennietum cenchroides,) common in many parts of the Panjab plains, and reckoned one of the best of all the wild grasses for forage, both for cows, and horses. It is a thick, juicy, pale green grass and grows to a considerable height in favourable years. This grass, the zimíṇdárs believe, if in good condition, gives a semi-intoxicating effect to the milk of buffaloes who graze on it.
