s. f, small ignited pile of chaff; (i. q. Dhúáṇ); a method of exorcising demons and evil spirits, and removing the influence of an evil eye or securing one against the influence of witchcraft, by burning aromatic substances:—dhúṉí deṉí, v. a. To exorcise:—dhúṉí dhukháuṉí, sulgáuṉí, v. a. To kindle a fire:—dhúṉí láuṉí, v. a. To make a fire and sit by it in order to extort a favour.
