s. f, The pear tree (Pyrus communis, P. Sinensis, Nat. Ord. Rosaceæ) which is cultivated in the Panjab plains. Its fruit which is imported into the Panjab from Kashmir is tolerably good; i. q. Nákh:—nákbel, s. f. A common weed (Boerhaavia diffusa B. procumbens, Nat. Ord. Nyctaginaceæ) in the Panjab plains. It is said to be eaten by animals. On the Jhelum the plant is given as a cooling medicine; i. q. Iṭṭ siṭṭ.
