s. m, small handsome tree (Diospyros Montana, Nat. Ord. Ebenaceæ) whose bright green spring foliage looks pleasant. Is not uncommon along the Siwalik tract up to near the Ravi, and occasional out in the plains westward from Delhi to near Sirsa. The fruit is not eaten. In some places it is applied to the hands for boils, to which bhistí's are said to be subject.
