PÁWAN

v. a. (M.), ) To throw; to pour; to put on as clothes, to wear, Present participle: peṇdá; Future: pesáṇ; Past participle: páyá. Páwan is the causal of Páwan, to fall:—pahile kúlhí áṭṭá páwan pichchhe káṇḍhe phiráwan. First put flour in the safe; afterwards send out the invitations.—Prov. Don't invite your guests till you have the means of entertaining them:—páwe har koí, ṭhamkáwe koí. Every woman wears (anklets), but only some can make them tinkle:—chhapar peṇdí ghagrá. She wears a petticoat like the roof of a house.—Song.
