s. m, The filling of cloth, the woof, cross threads in weaving; breadth, extent; a gut, tripe; amount of a man's possessions, wealth, property; charge, care, keeping;—tánáṇ peṭṭá resham dá hai. Its warp and woof are of silk.—Prov. referring to a person's ancestors on both sides being well born, but more often used ironically of persons of low descent on both sides:—peṭá raṭṭhú, s. m. A glutton; one so poor as to be in want of food, and who therefore from a sense of want thinks of nothing else.
