s. f, t. portion; a share in a village; in the Thal a level space of land free from sand-hills and suitable for wells, a thin plate or strip of iron; a plane bit, a metallic band; a letter, an epistle, a thin chip or scale separated from the surface of anything; the leaf of the cotton plant mixed in small bits with the cotton; a leaf; the chaff of pulses as dál, uṛd, múṇg; a painful swelling in the throat (in the last sense; c. w. painíáṇ in the plural):—pattí dár, s. m.
