s. m, Corrupted from the Arabic word Fatah. Victory, success:—fate hoṉí, v. n. To be conquered:—fate karná, v. a. To conquer:—fate nasíb, a. Victorious:—fate páuṉí, v. n. To get or obtain a victory:—Wáhgurú jí ká khálsá Wáhgurú jí kí fate. lit. The Khalsa is of the Guru and victory be to the Guru. The usual Sikh salutation:—Phate buláuṉá, v. a. To use the Sikh salutation.
