s. m, Corrupted from the Arabic word Fátiah. The opening Súrat or chapter of the Qurán being read for the benefit of dying Muhammadans;—fátiá deṉá, v. n. To make offerings to saints with prayers:—fátá paṛhṉá, v. n. To read prayers over the dead.
