Binding, fastening, stoppage, costiveness; an embankment thrown up to prevent an inundation; a dam, a dyke; obstruction, interruption; a stoppage of the excrementary or urinary passage, a lock (on a canal):—bannh márná, láuná, v. n. To make a dyke, to intercept, to set a boundary.
