s. m, Corrupted from the Sanskrit word Brahma. The Supreme Being; the all-pervading, the self-existent, the absolute; the divine cause and essence of the world, from which all things are supposed to proceed, and to which they return:—barahm bhoj, s. m. Feeding of Brahmans:—barahm chárí, s. m. A religious student; a Brahman from the time of his investiture with the Brahmanical thread till he becomes a householder; one who studies the Vedas under a spiritual teacher; an ascetic, a class of Hindu Sádhús:—barahm ḍaṇḍí, s. f.
