s. m, Corrupted from the Sanskrit word Maryá lá. A rule, a custom, place, rank, proper position; social code, thrift, economy:—ná Kábal, Kaṇdhár dá khaṭyá, ná ghar dí marjádá. Thrift at home is better than profits from Kabal and Kandahar, i. e., thrift at home is better than large profits in a foreign country.—Prov. used to express the sentiment of "there's no place like home."
