s. f, The galls of Tamariæ furas and T. dioica used as a mordant in dyeing madder red:—máíṇ baṛí, máíṇ chhoṭí, s. f. The galls of Tamarix orientalis, used in dyeing and tanning also medicinally:—máíṇ phall, s. m. The fruit of Randia dumetorum, Nat. Ord. Rubiaceæ. It is about the size of a nutmeg, with strong smelling seeds. Used medicinally, said to be warm and dry. It is stated to destroy fish and to be a powerful emetic and intoxicant:—máíṇ sabj, s. f. The berries of Cupressus semperoirens, Nat. Ord. Coniferæ used medicinally as an astringent and aromatic.
