s. f, The sheath of the seed of the plant sar (Saccharum sara, S. Munja, Nat. Ord. Gramineæ.) Muṇj is used for making ropes of every kind;—s. m. A plant. (Chamærops Ritchiana, Nat. Ord. Palmæ) which is common on portions of the Salt Range near its centre and occurs in the Siwalik tract in one place east of the Jhelam. The finer leaves are made into mats and the more coarse ones into ropes and sandals.
