s. m, (Poṭ.) A large shrub (Segeretia Brandrethiana, Nat. Ord. Rhamneæ) which abounds in places Trans-Indus, and in the Salt Range, and occurs low in the Jhelam basin. The fruit, which is well known in the bazars of Peshawar, is small and black, and is very pleasant eating when fresh, and in sufficient quantity, the flavour being not unlike that of the bilberry. In the Salt Range a chaṭṉí is made of the fruit.
