s. f, The head and neck:—múṇḍí, muṇḍí búṭí, s. f. A medicinal plant (Sphæranthus hirtus, S. Mœllis, Nat. Ord. Compositæ) common in the Eastern and Central Panjab, and it yields flowers which are highly esteemed, being used as alterative, depurative, cooling and tonic. The root is anthelmintic:—gorakh múṇḍí, s. f. A plant (Nippia nodiflora, Nat. Ord. Verbenaceæ) common in and near water all over the Panjab plains. The plant is used medicinally being considered cooling:—rat múṇḍí, s. m. See Ratanjot; a plant (Trichodesmá Indica, Nat. Ord. Borgineæ) which is common in many parts of the Punjab plains. Locally it is used as a cooling medicine, and its leaves are used medicinally, a cold infusion being considered depurative.
