v. n. (M.), ) To ask, to beg. Present participle: maṇgdá Future: maṇgsáṇ; Past participle: maṇgiá:—áp waḍá maṇgdá, te búhe te darwesh! He wanders begging, and a beggar is at his gate:—má maṇge pihawáṉí te dhí patthar ḍále! The mother asks for her wages for grinding, while the daughter throws stones, (i. e., gives herself airs)!—maṇgan jáe so mar rahe, mare so maṇgan já. Who goes to beg is as it were dying, and when as good as dead he begs.—Prov. used to show that begging is to be resorted to only in the direst extremity.
