s. m, handsome smallish very rare tree (Sapindus detergens, Nat. Ord. Sapindaceæ) planted in the vallies as far as the Ravi. The timber is white, soft and weak. In Kangra the leaves, are used as fodder. The larger seed is used for washing woollen and silk clothes, and cleaning the hair. The fruit soapwart or soapnut is used in washing. The seeds are used medicinally, being given in cases of salivation, in epilepsy, and as an expectorant.
