s. m, shrub (Daphne oleoides, Macronata, Nat Ord. Thymelæaceæ) which is common on most of the rivers in the Punjab Himalaya, and also Trans-Indus. In Chamba, gunpowder charcoal is made from the wood. The bark is given for colic and it is used by women for washing their hair. On the Chenab, the leaves or an infusion are given for gonorrhœa, and applied to abcesses. The pretty red berries are not infrequently eaten, but are said to be apt to cause sickness.
