ਲਪਤਾ

LAPTÁ

Meaning in English2

s. m, kind of grass (Cenchrus echínatus, Nat. Ord. Gramineæ.) which is not uncommon in the more arid parts of the Punjab plains. In some places it is said to be excellent fodder, but is not so much thought of in others. The seed is frequently used as food in times of scarcity. The hooks on the fruit cause it to stick to the traveller's clothes like a burr.
