s. m, (Poṭ.) A plant (Tribulus Alatus, T. lanuginosus, T terrestris, Nat. Ord. Zygophylleæ.) common in the plains in most parts of the province. The young plant is in some places eaten as a pot-herb, and the seeds are used as food, especially in times of scarcity. They are also considered diuretic and astringent, and in the Peshawar Valley they are taken by women to ensure fecundity, water, in which the fresh plant has been steeped, is drunk for impotence and an infusion of the stems is taken for gonorrhœa.
