s. m, small tree (Symplocos Cratægoides, Nat. Ord. Styracaceæ). Its wood does not seem to be specially valued; an oil is said to be extracted from the seeds, and the leaves are stated to be used in dyeing. Its bark (Lodh, Lodhar) is employed for dyeing with madder, and it is considered a tonic in the Hindu system of medicine and also used in ophthalmia.
