s. m, n Eryngium (Eryngium planum, E. dichotomum, Nat. Ord. Umbelliferæ) grows wild in Kashmir and the neighbouring tracts, as well as in the Peshawar plain, and the Salt Range. It is considered tonic and aphrodisiac. In Kandahar the seeds are stated to be used medicinally:—shakákal mîsrí, s. f. The same as Shakákal.
