s. m, The Sagapenum of drug writers, named Ferula persica, the plant from which it is obtained is said to be a Ferula growing in India. It is a gum resin somewhat like olibanum, very costly and extremely difficult to obtain. Druggists when asked for it supply jaushír (ammoniacum). It is said to be alterative and antispasmodic.
