s. m. (M.), ) An inferior grain (Oplismenus frumentaceus, Nat. Ord. Gramineæ) cultivated on the banks of the rivers. It is sown in September, without ploughing, in the mud left by the retiring inundations. The straw is good fodder, its grain is considered heating, and is one of the poorest of the millets.
