s. m, The king's Court, Government, the head of a civil administration, the commonwealth; the proprietor of an establishment; the title of Maharaja Ranjit Singh; met. a one-eyed man (as Maharaja Ranjit Singh was) sarkár aṇgrejí, s. m. The English Government:—sarkáre darbáre chaṛhṉá, v. n. To sue or complain in a law court:—sarkár wichch aṇdhár, sádh kúṛá chor sachiár. There is blindness on Government; the virtuous is (considered) a liar, and the thief a true man.—Prov. used of judicial blindness.
