s. f, ewing, stitching; the price paid for sewing; a piece of iron, shaped like a bodkin, with which surmá is applied to the eyes, the instrument being drawn between the closed eye-lashes, a large probe or wire heated and drawn across the eyes so as to cause loss of sight; lashes, a spindle:—díá saláí, s. f. Matches:—saláí pherṉí, v. a. To blind to deprive of sight.
