SUKH

s. m, Ease, tranquillity, easy circumstances, contentment, happiness:—sukhchaiṉ, s. m. A handsome tree (Pongamia glabra, Nat. Ord. Leguminasæ) occurring in the Siwalik tract up to near the Ravi, and not uncommon planted out in the plains, but not growing to a large size in the Panjab. Its leaves and pods are used medicinally:—sukhdáí, sukh dáí, sukhdáiṉ, s. m. A giver of ease or comfort:—sukh dáik, a. Giving ease or comfort:—sukhdás, s. m. A variety of rice:—sukh- darsan, s. m. A herb (Amaryllis grandiflora Nat. Ord. Liliaceæ) cultivated for its flower. The strained juice of two drams, reduced to a pulp with water is a good emetic, one drop put into the ear will generally cure ear-ache:—sukh jíuṛá, s. m. A man in easy, prosperous circumstances:—sukh páuṉá, v. n. To get ease, comfort.
