ਕੁਰਾਫਟ ਇੱਥੇ ਆਇਆ, ਪੰਜੇ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਪੱਥਰ ਤੇ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਕੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ:

Beyond the tomb was a spot of a rill, trickling from a block of a stone, supposed to have been sanctified by a miracle wrought there by Nanak coming to the place fatigues and thirsty, through he had a claim upon hospitality of this brother ascetic, and involved the spirit of Baba Wali for a cup of water. The Mohammaden saint, indignant at the presumption of an on believer, to his application by throwing a stone at him of several tons weight. Nanak caught the missile in his hand, and placed it on the ground, leaving the impression of his fingres upon its hard substance, at the same time he commanded water to flow from it, and this constituted the rill here observable, along which were a number of Sikh fanatics who had come on piligrimage. ਭਾਵ ਮਕਬਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੇ ਥੱਲਿਉਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਵਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਕਾਰਨ ਫੁੱਟਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਥੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਦਾ ਪਰਸਤ ਕਹਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਆਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਵਲੀ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿਆਲੇ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਮੁਸਲਮ ਸੰਤ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਗੈਰ ਮੁਸਲਮ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਗੁੱਸੇ 'ਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਾਰਾ ਪੱਥਰ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪੱਥਰ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੱਥਰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਸੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਪੱਥਰ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਪੈ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਹੁਣ ਇੱਥੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇੱਥੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਵਾਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਸਨ।

ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੁਗਲ ਨੇ ੧੮੩੫ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਫ਼ਰਨਾਮੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ੧੮੩੬ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਨਸ਼ੀ ਸ਼ਾਹਮਤ ਅਲੀ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਪੰਜੇ
