f, Bitter:—kauṛá kasailá;—a. Bitter and astringent (Cyamopsis psoraloides, Nat. Ord. Leguminosæ,) cultivated as a pulse:—kauṛí wel, s. f. A bitter creeper:—kauṛí wel wáṇgúṇ wadhṉá, v. a. To grow like a bitter creeper, (a prayer for increase in the number of family members):—kauṛí búṭí, s. f. Name of a variety of plants. 1. Trichodesma Indicum, Nat. Ord. Boragineæ, used as a cooling medicine. 2. In the Salt Range, Solanum gracilipes, Nat. Ord Solanaceæ; the fruit is eaten and the plant used in otitis. 3. In the Jullundhur district Ajuga bracteata, Nat. Ord. Labiatæ; used as a depurative and to kill lice. Kauṛí van, kauri jál, s. m. Salvadora Indica, Nat. Ord. Salvadoraceæ.
