s. m, Corrupted from the Persian word Ḳhán. A title among the Mohammedans and especially of nobles and of those of Pathán or Rajput descent; a common adjunct to Pathán or Afghán names;—conj. (a suffix to verbs) Then, indeed:—kháṇ bahádar, s. m. A title of honour conferred upon Mohammedans, men of respectability and faithful service, by the British Government.
