s. m, urpose, intention, design, will; selfishness, self-interest; need:—gauṇgír, gauṇgíran, gauṇgírní, gauṇgírá, s. m. a., A selfish person; selfish:—gauṇ karná, kaḍháuṉá, laiṉá, nikálṉá, v. a. To serve one's own ends:—gauṇ nikalṉá, v. n. To be served (one's purposes):—gauṇ bhunáwe jauṇ bháweṇ gille noṉ. Self-interest causes the barley to be parched, though they may be green.—Prov. used of those who are ready to do every mean thing for the purpose of serving their selfish ends, or getting their self-interests fulfilled.
