s. f. (M.), ) The lid of a ghaṛá:—chhúníṇ bhannaṉ, v. a. To break the lid of a ghaṛá at the bride's chamber- door is a general custom at marriages. The chhúníṇ is placed, with a small piece of money under it, before the threshold of the chamber, and the bridegroom, as he goes in, stamps on and breaks it. The company congratulate him. The money is the perquisite of the potter.
