s. m. (K.), ) This tree (Populus ciliata) is common wild in the Panjab Hamalaya up to the Indus and grows to a large size, occasionally reaching 10 feet in girth, and its leaves resemble those of the pippal. The wood is soft and not valued, but is used for water troughs, and in Hazara occasionally for gun stocks. In some places the leaves are used as fodder. There is a plentiful floss round the seeds, which has at times been recommended for purposes of manufacturing paper.
